The FODS weekend in Leicester on 19th and 20th November 2004, was organized around the first Maximus peal attempt for FODS, many people who were not in the band for the attempt had showed an urge to come along for the weekend so it became much more of a social occasion - another mini-outing I suppose!!

Some of us met on Friday evening, some travelled for just the Saturday and some, well just stayed as long as they could for a weekend in Leicester!! For the early arrivals that met on the Friday there was much wine sampling going on at one hotel and then when others had arrived on 'late' trains the activity moved on to the 'Rainbow & Dove' for a night of merriment... Those that had been satisfied with the wine in the Hotel proceeded to have an early night in bed with 'Children in Need' and those that had gone to the R&D then found a suitable eating house for some food and retired...

But of course, as with all weekends away some had then chosen that after having food inside them it was time to go back and sample more of the Leicester entertainment!!!

Saturday morning dawned, and for those in the peal, all arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed for the attempt... There was one exception, but a delayed train from down south was to blame - rather than any 'lack of sleep' induced excuse!! And so we set off into changes for our attempt at Bristol Max - the band including members from all over the country, the North East and West, Midlands, London (and surrounding areas) and even some parts along the South coast!! A mixed band, ringing on strange bells, with many different 'regional' styles and in a fairly complicated but standard method too!!!
