Saturday
A group gathered in the lobby at 8.20 in preparation to set off on the epic tram journey to the first tower. Mobile phone cameras were at the ready, the correct change counted for the Nottingham Tram day ticket and Jim's chocolate was just waiting to be devoured. It was just a short walk to the Tram terminus, and onto the shiny thrumming vehicle that was waiting.
The few other passengers were bemused by our large gang of noisy, slightly effeminate men who had just crowded on. We set off with a jolt, and steadily made progress through Nottingham centre before reaching a more sparse area where it built up quite a speed. The excitement of the happy tram travellers turned to slight worry as the tram careered straight past the stop for the first tower and the tower itself.

Apparently, one needed to press a "Stop button" to alight from the vehicle. We got off at the next stop and luckily there was a tram already there for the other direction which we ran over the tracks and onto, which got us there in good time for ringing, at the first tower.
BASFORD
Or Baseford. Or Baysford or Bazzford? Whatever it's called, the nice Victorian tower (with the odd patch of missing stonework) contained a lovely 14cwt 8 which were put to good use, with rounds and calls, Stedman, Plain Bob and Superlative being bashed out in fine style.
For the Superlative we had a guest FOD on the treble, a local, who was jokingly threatened with violence if he didn't put it in the right places. He was a lovely old man who has some odd ideas about fashion. More people turned up here and we made our way to:
BULWELL
We got here early, and Griff Rhys Jones came to open up. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe also joined the tour here, dressed very smartly. The church sits prettily on a slight hill over the town, and has a superb ring of 8 in E. Yorkshire was scored along with some other stuff.
